MailCleaner offers all Spamhaus professional lists as an option to the MailCleaner Virtual Appliance. This additional efficient option increases the performance of our product to more than 99.6% accuracy.

Spamhaus provide MailCleaner realtime highly accurate information by allowing our clients to identify, tag or block incoming connections from IP addresses or domains which Spamhaus deems to be involved in the sending, hosting or origination of spam or malware.

Using Spamhaus’s lists in MailCleaner rejects a very large amount of spam and virus mail with very low “false positive” rejections of legitimate mail.

What Are The Benefits?

Realtime rejection avoids the “backscatter” problem of some spam filters which accept delivery, close the connection, and then try to return the mail after it is determined to be spam. Most spam and viruses have forged sender addresses, and so the “bounce” goes back to an innocent third party.

Spamhaus provide also a domain URI Blocklist and RHSBL. It is intended primarily for message body URI checks but it can also be used for connection checks at the SMTP level and header domain checks and other checks involving domains. This will increase significantly phishing and other threats detection.

How Does It Work?

The Spamhaus Block Lists is the major database of IP addresses from unsolicited messages senders. The SBL database is maintained by a dedicated team of investigators and forensics specialists located in 10 countries and working 24 hours a day to list new confirmed spam issues and maintain this list.

A DNSBL, commonly known as a ‘Blocklist”, is a database that is queried in realtime by Internet mail servers for the purpose of obtaining an opinion on the origin of incoming email. The role of a DNSBL such as Spamhaus’ SBL/XBL/PBL Advisory system is to provide an opinion on whether a particular IP Address meets Spamhaus’ own policy for acceptance of inbound email.
